Francesco Totti’s name has once again been firmly on the table at Roma, with ongoing discussions between the club and the former captain to explore a possible return.
This time, the idea is to give substance to the deal.
According to La Repubblica, the Friedkins are ready to offer a significant contract, worth up to €1 million, to bring the number 10 back to the Giallorossi. The issue, predictably, isn’t financial but functional: what role to assign him and what real prospects.
The solution being worked on involves a first “soft” step: an external consultant, or a role as Roma brand ambassador, useful for mending the relationship and gradually reintegrating Totti into the club’s mechanisms.
But the real novelty lies elsewhere.
Francesco would be willing to accept this initial phase only if he has a clear perspective: a future placement in the coaching department and a real say in decision-making.
The parties are talking, and the terms are being defined. The process is still underway, but the feeling is that, for the first time in years, the dialogue is back on track. And when Totti and Roma look each other in the eye again, it’s never trivial news.
