Coventry boss Frank Lampard determined to keep Championship top scorer amid Premier League interest

From Coventry to Elland Road? Leeds plot move for Ghana’s goal machine
Leeds United are weighing up January move for Coventry City’s prolific forward Brandon Thomas-Asante as the Premier League club look to bolster their attacking options for the second half of the 2025 /26 campaign.
The 26 year old Ghana international has been one of the standout performers in the Championship this season leading the league’s scoring charts with 10 goal in 15 appearance.
Leeds attack has lacked cutting edge in recent weeks with the team converting just nine goals from expected goals xG tally of 12.0.
Manager Daniel Farke is keen to add proven finisher to his squad and Thomas-Asante has emerged as prime target thanks to his consistency, versatility and work rate.
According to reports from Sportsboom, Leeds are preparing an offer to test Coventry’s resolve when the January transfer window opens.
However the deal is expected to be complicated by the player’s long-term contract which runs until 2028 and Coventry’s ongoing promotion push.
Coventry City manager Frank Lampard has made it clear he has no intention of parting ways with his leading scorer midway through the season.
"Brandon is massive part of our project" Lampard told local reporters. "His goals, his attitude and his influence on the team are irreplaceable. We’re building something here and he’s right at the centre of it"
Thomas-Asante’s club form has also translated to the international stage. The forward has been named in Ghana’s preliminary squad for upcoming friendlies against Japan & South Korea, part of the Black Stars preparations for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
