From Italy: Arsenal star becomes top AC Milan transfer target

Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus is reportedly set to be a top transfer target for AC Milan as they look to strengthen in attack this summer.

The Brazil international is no longer an automatic starter for the Gunners after issues with injuries and a general loss of form, so it wouldn’t be too surprising if the club were willing to let him go at the end of this season.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Milan are keen to sign Jesus, though it seems this is at an early stage and it’s not clear what kind of conditions Arsenal would be looking for to let the player go.

Time for Gabriel Jesus to leave Arsenal?

On his day, Jesus can be a fine player, as he showed for much of his time at former club Manchester City, but it hasn’t quite worked out for him at the Emirates Stadium.

The 29-year-old could now do well to leave Arsenal for a move to Serie A, where the pace of the game is a bit slower and it’s generally not as competitive a league as the Premier League.

Arsenal will also surely look to make changes this summer, and it’s hard to see Jesus being a part of Mikel Arteta’s long-term plans.

Could Arsenal try Gabriel Jesus and Rafael Leao swap deal?

It’s worth noting that Arsenal have previously been linked with Milan forward Rafael Leao in a report earlier this season by Football Transfers.

The Portugal international looks like he could be a useful addition to give AFC something a bit different in attack, so some fans will undoubtedly be wondering if the club could push for a swap deal.

Milan’s interest in Jesus could in theory mean they’re open to discussions over this, though in practice such deals are quite rare.

Still, it will be interesting to watch how this develops, as any Milan approach to Arsenal over Jesus could perhaps lead to them asking about Leao’s availability as well.
