Fujino on target as Japan top Asian Cup group | OneFootball

Aoba Fujino scored Japan’s third in their 4-0 win over Vietnam to confirm their place at the Group C summit with a 100% win record.

Her fellow City team-mates Yui Hasegawa, Ayaka Yamashita and Risa Shimizu, on loan at Liverpool, also played a key role in the triumph which saw Japan register an eye-catching 14 shots on target compared to Vietnam’s one.

Hasegawa teed up Riko Ueki with a beautiful cross from the right on 21 minutes to allow the latter to head Japan ahead after dominating play from kick-off.

Despite Japan’s domination of possession, Vietnam still proved tricky to break down.

It wouldn’t be until 51 minutes where Japan would double their advantage.

Maika Hamano tapped home at the back post before Fujino quickly added her name to the scoresheet 13 minutes later.

The City forward fired home a fantastic finish from 19 yards out for her first goal of the tournament.

To complete the afternoon, Kiko Seike placed a precise right-footed shot from the right into the bottom left corner on 67 minutes to confirm victory.

Japan’s 4-0 win in Perth means they will now face the Philippines on Sunday 15 March, with their quarter-final clash set to begin at 05:00 (UK).
