Gabriel Gudmundsson has eased Leeds United fears after taking a knee knock on Sweden duty, indicating he feels fine.

"It's the same as always. Take care of your body and make sure you're ready for Tuesday. Of course, I wanted to [play on], but it was a trade-off and it felt good," he told the Sweden Herald.

The left-back started on Thursday as Sweden beat Ukraine 3-1 in their World Cup play-off semi-final, Arsenal’s Viktor Gyokeres scoring a hat-trick to set up Poland next week.

Midway through the second half Gudmundsson took a blow to his knee, tried to continue, then was replaced by Daniel Svensson.

Leeds will take encouragement from his comments, with the defender having four days to recover before hopefully being fit to feature again. Sweden are 90 minutes and a win away from this summer’s World Cup.

"It means an incredible amount, not just to us but to everyone else as well. There are a lot of positives to take away from this match. We will take that feeling with us."

After the win he posted on social media, sharing an Instagram image with the caption: "1 more to go."
