Galatasaray are pushing to sign Victor Osimhen on a permanent basis with the forward’s proposed move to Al-Hilal set to collapse.

Al-Hilal are prepared to pay the €75m release clause in Osimhen’s Napoli contract but no agreement has been reached between the Saudi side and the player.

New Al-Hilal head coach Simone Inzaghi has given the green light to a deal for Osimhen but could move on to alternative targets. The Saudi Pro League side want a final answer by Friday, as the club look to secure signings before the FIFA Club World Cup this summer.

Galatasaray push for permanent Osimhen transfer

Fabrizio Romano has reported that talks are on the verge of collapse and Galatasaray have ‘entered strong in the race’.

Osimhen spent the 2024/25 campaign on loan at the Turkish Süper Lig side and enjoyed a record-breaking campaign in Istanbul. The Nigerian forward scored 37 goals in 41 games, a record for an overseas player in a Turkish season. His goals helped propel Galatasaray to a league and cup double.

Galatasaray are determined to keep Osimhen on a permanent deal, but the finances of a transfer appear difficult.

The current Turkish Süper Lig transfer record is just €19.5 million, set when Fenerbahce signed Youssef En-Nesyri from Sevilla last summer. En-Nesyri has also been linked with a €30m move to the Saudi Pro League.

Earlier this month, Nigeria manager Eric Chelle called Osimhen ‘the best striker in the world’ and named Manchester United and Chelsea as possible clubs for the forward.

“Victor is, for me, the best striker in the world,” he told BBC Sport Africa. “For him it is difficult to come for this game because he played a season with a lot of pressure.

“The reality is there is a transfer window. During this time, a player like him is not focused at 100 percent. I need to protect him physically and mentally, because maybe he will go [and get a transfer move].

“Maybe a club like Manchester United. Or maybe Chelsea, Barcelona or Real Madrid. So he needs to be focused on that.”
