The Ruben Amorim era at Manchester United got off to an indifferent start at Ipswich on Sunday, but it looks to be up and running tonight against Bodø/Glimt, with Alejandro Garnacho scoring the first goal at Old Trafford under the new head coach.
After scoring after about 80 seconds at Portman Road, United scored in nearly half that time against the Norwegian side, the Argentine winger tapping into an empty net after Rasmus Højlund rapidly closed down Bodø/Glimt Nikita Khaikin, who made a mess of a back pass.
Amorim is United's first head coach ever, but the sixth man to sit in the hot seat in a chaotic 11-and-a-half years since Sir Alex Ferguson retired.
Garnacho joins Robin van Persie, Wayne Rooney, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Nemanja Matić, and Jadon Sancho as the first United player to score a home goal for a brand new boss in that time.
Both Garnacho and Amorim will be it isn't the start of the latest false dawn at Old Trafford, and instead the springboard for greater days ahead.
