Alejandro Garnacho may have fueled speculations of an imminent departure with a cryptic short message following Manchester United’s win over Rangers.
The 20-year-old hasn’t been a regular starter since Ruben Amorim’s arrival as he struggled to find himself a place in the manager’s 3-4-2-1 formation. However, he made the cut for Thursday’s Europa League showdown which ended with a dramatic 2-1 victory for the Red Devils over their Scottish neighbours.
The Argentine wasn’t on the scoresheet, but his display warranted some praise from Amorim after the contest. However, the Portuguese tactician failed to rule out the player’s exit before the end of the January transfer session, and the player himself raised eyebrows with an interesting post on social media.
“Thank you, Old Trafford,” wrote Garnacho on his personal Instagram account after the match while several photos, including one with him waving for the home crowds at OT.

Therefore, the puzzled Man Utd faithful aren’t exactly sure what to make of this post. On one hand, it could be a simple post-match tribute to the club’s loyal supporters who are sticking by the Reds during their darkest days. But on the other hand, some of the club’s fans fear this could be a goodbye message due to its particular timing.
After all, Garnacho has been heavily linked with a January transfer, with some speculating he has already played his last match for the Red Devils.
The Argentina international has emerged as a primary transfer target for Napoli who are keen to sign a new winger after selling Khvicha Kvaratsekhlia to Paris Saint-Germain last week. The two clubs held rounds of negotiations earlier this week.
Moreover, Chelsea are also reportedly interested in the player’s services, with his agent raising eyebrows with an appearance at Stamford Bridge earlier this week.
