Gary Neville has launched an attack on Ruben Amorim’s tactics after Manchester United suffered a disappointing 1-1 draw with Wolverhampton Wanderers on Tuesday night.

The Red Devils were expected to breeze past a struggling Wolves side, who are yet to win in the Premier League this season.

However, United produced a lacklustre display to squander a brilliant opportunity to seal maximum points at Old Trafford.

Neville hit out at Amorim for reverting back to his 3-4-3 formation, rather than continuing with the 4-2-3-1 system that delivered a 1-0 victory against Newcastle United on Boxing Day

Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: “This isn’t right again.

“So I think I’ve watched enough United over this last five or six weeks. I’ve watched six out of their last seven games to know what looks right and what isn’t right and I’m really surprised.

“[Joshua] Zirkzee on this right side having to chase back to right-back almost, [Diogo] Dalot right wing back, Ayden Heaven right centre back, [Patrick] Dorgu over on the left back where he’s not been playing well.

“All of it just isn’t as good as it was in the last couple of games where they’ve played in different positions and we should be OK to say that. I think that’s what the fans are thinking inside this stadium. They’re in exactly the same place as we are.”

United should have won comfortably against Wolves who had lost 11 successive league matches before Tuesday.

Joshua Zirkzee’s deflected shot broke the deadlock in the 27th minute, but Ladislav Krejci produced the leveller on the cusp of half-time.

The home supporters continued bellowing ‘attack, attack, attack’ in the second-half as their team struggled to create chances and ultimately settled for a point.

Apart from Senne Lammens and Ayden Heaven, all the other stars provided a disappointing display.

Patrick Dorgu scored the winner against Newcastle but he struggled to make an impact at left wing-back against Wolves.

Diogo Dalot was poor, while Matheus Cunha faded badly as the game progressed.

The home fans made their feelings known at full-time as they booed their own team.

United will look to bounce back on Sunday when they meet Leeds United on the road.
