Roma manager Gian Piero Gasperini was not happy with how his team gave up a precious 3-1 lead over Juventus which ended in a 3-3 draw at the Stadio Olimpico tonight.
The manager spoke to DAZN after the game.
“Gatti’s goal? It’s the first goal we’ve conceded from a long-range free kick. We were passive and stagnant,” he commented.
“Inter, Napoli, and Milan managed to level the playing field in the closing stages by throwing in very skilled players on set pieces and in the air, while we could have done better.”
“We needed to be more physical; Cristante’s exit took away something from our aerial game. We weren’t good; we conceded three similar goals from loose balls in the box. Conceicao scored an extraordinary goal on the first; we were passive on the other two.”
“Going seven points ahead of Juve would have been a big step forward, but we’re still there. We’re coming off an extraordinary match; it shouldn’t dishearten us, but rather give us strength.”
“We need to be more lively in the final moments. With 5 minutes to go, we’re flying and we can’t talk about tiredness on set pieces. Juve didn’t have many chances, they could only score from set pieces.”
