The usual Donyell Malen wasn’t enough for Roma.
At the Sinigaglia stadium, the Dutchman converted the penalty that temporarily made it 0-1, then Como turned things around and took home three crucial points for next season’s Champions League campaign.
Seven goals in nine games for the striker, who has become Roma’s top scorer.
His arrival in January has transformed the Giallorossi’s attack, but they continue to struggle with limited options and numerous injury absences.
After the defeat against Como, Gian Piero Gasperini spoke about his center-forward. Speaking at a press conference, the Giallorossi coach focused specifically on the possibility of him joining Aston Villa next summer.
He said: “I don’t know if he’ll stay; ask the club in May or June. The club will decide what to do with Malen. Roma has a right to buy; we’ll see when they exercise it.”
Malen arrived on loan in January with an option to buy, which will become mandatory if Roma qualify for the Champions League or Europa League.
