Roma boss Gian Piero Gasperini spoke to the media on Saturday afternoon to preview tomorrow’s Derby della Capitale.

“Wesley seemed to be on the mend, but we’re not sure he’ll be there,” said the Roma coach.

“We’re testing Hermoso on the field today, and there’s confidence that he can be called up.”

“The derby is a special match, beyond the league table and the way the rest of the season unfolds, there is a local rivalry on the pitch that makes everything more beautiful.”

“The derbies that remain are the ones you win. Draws are forgotten, defeats are quickly forgotten. Playing it on the fourth matchday is unusual, there’s a lot of tension.”

“Lazio is a good team, with a coach who has done well in all competitions. They haven’t made any moves, but last year they managed to achieve good results. I respect the quality of the team and the players; it’s a high-level match.”

“I’m focused on the present; it’s a great challenge, and I’ll try to bring my experience to a place like Rome. These are the reasons that pushed me to take this path. I’m convinced it was the right choice.”

“I’ll have to try to do my best. I was used to playing a certain style of football, with different players. I’ll try to stick to my principles: having a proactive team that looks for results on the pitch.”

“We didn’t play well against Torino, but we didn’t deserve to lose. Now we have to look ahead; I need to recover players like Pellegrini, Dovbyk, and Baldanzi. Even those who weren’t supposed to be there have to do well.”

“Tsimikas had his first training sessions last week and has started to settle in. We have a very busy schedule, and he’ll definitely have a chance to play.”

“Pellegrini, for me, is a strong player. But then there’s his performance. I don’t know if he’ll play tomorrow, but I expect him to become a top-level player; he has great potential. He’s 29 years old, he can do anything.”

“My principles are solid. I have to take into account the characteristics of my players. Dybala and Bailey are out in attack, I have to respect the characteristics of the others and reorganize the squad accordingly.”

“El Aynaoui played up front against Torino, but in my opinion he can play in any midfield role, he’s versatile and dynamic.”
