Gian Piero Gasperini has been clear in his demands during the early discussions with Roma’s management.
At the heart of the rebuild process is the desire to insert two key figures into the offensive department: a physical and structured centre-forward, and a fast, unpredictable second striker with above-average technical qualities, in the style of Lookman.
The Piedmontese coach has in mind an attack inspired by the 3-4-2-1 system that has made Atalanta’s fortune.
While on the one hand Dovbyk’s name is being considered as a possible central reference, the other crucial piece will be to pair him with an offensive shoulder who has the characteristics of the Nigerian from Atalanta. A player capable of moving between the lines, creating numerical superiority, breaking the balance with sudden accelerations and intelligent insertions.
As Leggo reports, Roma are already making moves on the transfer market.
Two main names appear on the Giallorossi management’s notebook: Karim Konaté, an offensive winger from Salzburg, and Igor Paixão, a Brazilian from Feyenoord who has stood out in the Eredivisie and has also attracted the interest of Olympique Marseille.
Both represent ideal prototypes for the role required by Gasperini.
The case of Paixão, however, is more complex. The South American playmaker is tied to the Dutch club until 2029, and Feyenoord does not seem willing to let him go easily. The path that leads to Konaté appears more viable. Salzburg could open up negotiations, despite the competition from other European clubs.
