Gattuso ‘in talks’ with Lazio as Sarri ‘close to’ Atalanta agreement | OneFootball

Sportitalia suggests Gennaro Gattuso could be in line for Lazio, with Maurizio Sarri thought to be close to an agreement with Atalanta.

Sarri has grown frustrated with president Claudio Lotito and the situation at the Stadio Olimpico, including a fan boycott, a transfer embargo and player sales he opposed.

Napoli were mentioned earlier in the process. The proposed Atalanta contract is for two years with an option for a third, worth around €3 million per season plus bonuses.

The report adds that former Italy coach Gattuso is a free agent after failing to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, and has been in contact with Lazio to discuss a potential role on the bench.

Lazio are also considering alternatives, including current Atalanta boss Raffaele Palladino, which would effectively be a swap between the clubs.
