Barcelona midfielder Gavi experienced an emotional night at Spotify Camp Nou as he finally returned to the pitch after more than 200 days on the sidelines.
The Spanish international made his long-awaited comeback during Barcelona’s impressive 5-2 victory over Sevilla, a moment that the home supporters had been waiting months to witness.
As soon as Gavi came out to warm up, thousands of fans began chanting his name, creating a powerful moment that clearly meant a lot to the academy graduate.
After the match, the 21-year-old admitted that returning to the pitch was an emotional experience.
“It’s an indescribable feeling. I’m very happy to be back with the team and the fans,” he said after the match.

Injuries have been a recurring challenge for the young star, and he admitted that the rehabilitation process had been far from easy.
“The truth is, it’s been really tough, much harder than last time. I’ve had a pretty rough time. It’s been the most painful process.
“It’s been harder for me day to day. I’m very happy. I’ve dreamed of this moment many times,” he added.
During his recovery, Gavi received strong support from Barcelona manager Hansi Flick, something the midfielder made sure to acknowledge publicly.
“He’s always been there for me, like a father. He’s always supported me, even with the other injury.
“I’m grateful to him because he’s always trusted me despite the two serious injuries. I hope he stays for many more years,” he added.
Despite playing only a short cameo, Gavi immediately showed the competitive spirit that has made him one of Barcelona’s most admired players.
“I’m always going to be the same. I’ve been like this since I was born. It’s my way of competing. I always give my all for this club, and I’ll keep doing so for the rest of my life,” he noted.
“I’ve felt really good; I hope to keep it up. Ultimately, it’s a complicated injury, but I know I can overcome this and many more.
“I’ll try to improve every day. I’m not yet at 100% like my teammates, but I’m close and hope to be there soon,” he acknowledged.
The night was also special for another young Barcelona player. Full-back Xavi Espart made his first start at Camp Nou, just days after making his first-team debut against Newcastle United.

After the match, Espart described the moment as a dream come true.
“It was incredible to play at Camp Nou, and as a starter to boot. It’s crazy. I approached it with excitement and tried to give it my all.
“In the end, we managed to win, so I’m very happy,” he began.
The youngster also revealed the message Flick gave him before the game to calm his nerves ahead of his first home start.
“He told me to have confidence; he trusts me. He told me not to play with fear. That if I play my game, everything will be fine,” he revealed.
Despite stepping into the spotlight with the first team, Espart remains grounded about his current role within the club.
“I’m from the reserve team; I’m registered with the reserves. Now I’m with the first team.
“Wherever I am, I try to give my all. I’m always very grateful for the opportunities and try to make the most of them,” he said.
At one stage, it briefly looked as though Gavi’s return might be delayed after Espart suffered discomfort during the match. However, the defender later clarified that it was simply cramps.
“It was cramps. Everything was cramping up. I tried to tough it out—these things happen,” he concluded.
