GdS: Milan’s attack ‘flops again’ – the worrying show against Atalanta

Against Atalanta last night, AC Milan were very poor in the attacking third, and a worrying statistic has been highlighted this morning.
Yesterday’s match was not a season-ender, far from it. For Milan, the season has long been done. However, it served as a stark reminder of the issues plaguing this Rossoneri side, and how big the gap may be to better times.
From a defensive standpoint, the goal conceded was poor, but if you can outscore your opponents, it shouldn’t matter as much. Unfortunately, there were no signs shown of being able to do that, as Gazzetta dello Sport recalls.
It was probably inevitable to find an ’empty plate’ after the win in Udine last Friday, however, that does not take away from the disappointment. Instead, it makes this performance more of a slap in the face.
Against Atalanta, the Diavolo registered a single shot on target, but even then, it was a weak effort from outside the box with no threat. So, we could chalk it off, and it would be no different; there was no threat on display.
Put simply, efforts were made, but they were not great and very lacklustre. Questions about quality certainly arise, but they must disappear before Wednesday, if Milan want to get a European place, which they seemingly do not deserve after another sub-par showing.
