Geoffrey Moncada is set to be named OGC Nice’s new sporting director. He will replace Florian Maurice, as per a report from L’Équipe.
As co-president Jean-Pierre Rivere revealed on Friday night, the club had signed Grégory Lorenzi to a contract, only for him to back out of that deal and sign for Olympique de Marseille. Rivere added that Nice won’t look to retain Lorenzi, although he is seeking talks with OM on the matter.
Regardless, Le Gym’s search for a new sporting director goes on. Florian Maurice will depart, as he has already been informed, and his successor now seems to have been found. Moncada, formerly of AS Monaco, has just left his job as technical director of AC Milan.
He will become Nice’s new sporting director, L’Équipe understands. The deal is expected to accelerate on Monday. It will be a busy summer for Moncada, who will have to oversee departures as well as, potentially, the search for a new manager. Despite keeping Nice in Ligue 1, in extremis, Claude Puel may not remain.
