FIFA’s «Voix des joueurs» panel and its captain George Weah have offered support to Kylian Mbappé after racist abuse by Paraguayan senator Celeste Amarilla.
According to L'Équipe, the 16-strong group of former players, women and men, was formed to oversee and support global anti-racism initiatives. It responded to racist remarks that targeted Mbappé after France’s 1-0 last-16 win over Paraguay at the 2026 World Cup on Saturday.
Speaking for the panel, Weah said they stand in full solidarity with Mbappé and denounced the remarks in the strongest terms. He underlined that football should be built on respect, inclusion and unity, with no tolerance for discrimination. He added that racism has no place in the game and is a crime.
Amarilla then posted several racist messages on X directed at Mbappé in the aftermath of the match.
Mbappé replied on social media, calling her a contemptible woman and unworthy of her office.
