Gerson apologises after Cruzeiro v Atlético-MG brawl, still available to Tite | OneFootball

Gerson was involved in a mass brawl during Cruzeiro’s Campeonato Mineiro final against Atlético-MG on Sunday eight. The midfielder was sent off.

He later apologised, saying the scenes were not a good example, particularly with many children watching. According to Coluna Do Fla, his remarks came after he left the field.

Despite the dismissal, he remains available to head coach Tite for the game against Flamengo, because suspensions from state competitions do not apply to CBF fixtures.

Gerson will serve any suspension only in the next Campeonato Mineiro season, if he stays with the Minas Gerais club in 2027. He will travel as normal to Rio de Janeiro to face Flamengo in the Brasileirão.

The Flamengo v Cruzeiro match is set for 21:30 Brasília time on Wednesday 11 at the Maracanã. It is part of the fifth round of the Campeonato Brasileiro and will be shown on Rede Globo free-to-air, GETV on YouTube and Premiere pay-per-view.
