La Liga has faced a lot of flak recently for confirming that the match between Barcelona and Villarreal will take place in Miami in December.

The decision hasn’t gone down well with many Spanish clubs as well as players, who are planning a massive protest this weekend.

The union of Spanish football players argue that they should have been consulted before La Liga took the decision to host the game in Miami.

Many coaches and managers have joined the bandwagon, criticising the move to host the game in Miami, including Atletico Madrid’s top bosses.

Bordalas on Barcelona vs Villarreal match

Speaking ahead of the Real Madrid game this weekend, Getafe manager Jose Bordalas, too, was asked about Barcelona’s match against Villarreal in Miami.

To everyone’s surprise, the Getafe coach did not criticise the move, even stating that he is open to new ideas. But he did point out that the decision should have been taken after consulting all the involved parties.

“I respect everyone’s opinions, and I will not evaluate anyone’s opinion. I have my own opinion, and I am open to everything new and innovative,” he said (h/t Diario AS).

“But the decision should always be taken into account everyone’s opinion; the players, the coaches, and above all, the fans,” he added.

Bordalas’ comments cannot be classified as completely negative, given that he is seemingly open to new ideas, which, in this case, is that the match will be held in Miami.

Joan Laporta, for his part, has hailed the move, calling it transformative, which is hardly surprising as the game being held in Miami is going to be lucrative for a club like Barcelona.
