Getafe star Borja Mayoral has on Saturday secured for himself a noteworthy piece of club history.

This comes amid confirmation that the attacker has joined a former pair of Azulones players atop the club’s all-time goalscoring ranks.

Getafe were back in action on Saturday afternoon, making the trip to Bilbao for a La Liga meeting with Athletic Club.

And when all was said and done, it was that man Mayoral who had proven himself difference-maker.

15 minutes from time, the 28-year-old notched what proved to be the only goal of the game at San Mamés.

This took Mayoral’s tally in the colours of Getafe to 37 goals scored in the Spanish top-flight.

As a result, the former Real Madrid man has moved joint-top of the capital club’s list of all-time top scorers in La Liga, alongside Manu del Moral, and Jaime Mata.

Not only that, but Mayoral reached the figure by some way the fastest of the three, requiring just 111 games to do so.
