Real Madrid’s 1-0 win over Getafe last night at Coliseum Alfonso Perez was not short on controversial moments.

Two Getafe players – Allan Nyom and Alex Sancris – were shown red cards on the night, on either side of Kylian Mbappe’s 80th minute goal, much to the anger of the home team.

Both plays involved Real Madrid’s mercurial winger Vinicius Jr., who was fouled by Nyom minutes after coming on for Kiko Femenia, leading to a direct red card.

Meanwhile, Alex Sancris, already on a yellow card, was shown his second in the 84th minute for another foul on the Brazilian international.

Alex Sancris does not blame Vinicius

Following the game, some of Getafe’s players and even manager Jose Bordalas pointed fingers at Vinicius for the red cards.

However, Alex Sancris did not share the same view and insisted that he did not feel that that Real Madrid winger was out there to provoke him or his teammates and that the Brazilian was just playing his game.

“For me it’s exaggerated, but that’s it, it is what it is. I touch him and that’s it. That’s football, it was my mistake for touching him. I’ll learn from it next time,” he told El Chiringuito, via MARCA.

Asked about Vinicius’s attitude, the Getafe player was blunt: “He didn’t provoke the team, he plays his game and that’s it. We’re doing our thing. We don’t have to get involved in anything. My mistake, I’ve already told you that.”

Liso and Femenia, very angry

Adrian Liso and Kiko Femenia were much harsher in their criticism. The forward stated that referee Munuera Montero “did not want” to review Nyom’s red card on VAR, and Femenia said that “neither of the two” incidents seemed worthy of a sending-off to him.

“He gives me a yellow card and ruins my match because then I have to be substituted. Nyom’s could have been a yellow, and it is red. Every decision went his way, so very bad,” said Femenia.

“Vini plays his game and it works for him. Referees fall for his fouls, so he will keep doing it. Nyom is upset because it was just an ordinary foul, there was no need to ruin the match like that,” explained the full-back.
