Sudan's assistant coach, Ignatius Osei-Fosu, has recently made headlines following a notable statement about Black Stars captain André Ayew. In an interview with Luv FM, the Ghanaian coach questioned whether the forward should still be relied upon in the national squad.

Ignatius Osei-Fosu did not mince his words, stating that André Ayew no longer has a place in the Black Stars lineup.

He may be a very, very good player. But in the current context, is he really necessary? For me, no.

While acknowledging the impressive career of the Ghanaian international, Osei-Fosu believes it might be time for André Ayew to step away from the international stage.

According to him, knowing when to bow out at the peak of one's career is sometimes the best decision for a seasoned player.

I appreciate Dede, but you have to know when to step aside at the height of your glory. Dede should move on and focus on his club.

These comments are likely to reignite debate about André Ayew's future with the Black Stars. The iconic captain is currently hitting top form at club level since joining NAC Breda in the Netherlands this past January. With his current performances, he's making a case for a national team return ahead of the World Cup. He remains one of the most capped players in Ghana's history.
