Ghana arrive at Boston Stadium in Foxborough tonight, looking to build on an unconvincing but crucial opening victory and topple England at the top of Group L.
Carlos Queiroz’s side ground out a hard-fought 1-0 win over Panama on matchday one, with 20-year-old Caleb Yirenkyi becoming an unlikely hero by finishing off a sweeping counter-attack in the fifth minute of stoppage time.
The performance was far from spectacular, but it was disciplined and effective. Tonight’s challenge is an entirely different proposition — but the Black Stars arrive in Foxborough with confidence.
Queiroz faces one significant concern in goal. Lawrence Ati-Zigi suffered a groin injury and was withdrawn at half-time against Panama, with reports suggesting a potential three-week absence. He has been seen in training, but Benjamin Asare is expected to start between the sticks tonight.
The defensive unit is otherwise expected to remain unchanged, with Nicholas Adjetey and Daniel Opoku anchoring the centre and Alidu Seidu and Gideon Mensah as the wide defenders. Thomas Partey is available after missing the Panama match and is expected to start, partnering Yirenkyi in the midfield base.
The Villarreal midfielder’s experience and ability to screen the defence will be crucial against England’s attack. Antoine Semenyo carries the primary creative threat from the left flank. Kamaldeen Sulemana operates centrally to link midfield and attack. Jordan Ayew leads the line.
Ghana possible starting XI: B. Asare; Senaya, Adjetey, Opoku, Mensah; Yirenkyi, Partey; Fatawu, Sulemana, Semenyo; J. Ayew
The Group L fixture kicks off at 21:00 BST, Tuesday, 23 June 2026, at Boston Stadium in Foxborough.
UK viewers can watch the match live and free-to-air on BBC One, with a live stream available via BBC iPlayer and the BBC Sport website.
