Giacomo Raspadori was the subject of an interview with Corriere dello Sport.
The Italian striker is currently playing for Atletico Madrid, after years spent in Italy between Sassuolo and Napoli.
Last winter, Roma showed interest in him, attempting to bring him to the capital to strengthen Claudio Ranieri’s squad at the time.
The player himself confirmed the interest. Raspadori revealed to the newspaper that he had been a target of the Giallorossi in January 2025.
“Last January, Roma showed interest because I wasn’t playing much at Napoli, but nothing came of it.”
Roma didn’t sign any forwards during that transfer window.
The former Sassuolo player continued: “De Zerbi’s Marseille insisted more, in the winter and summer, but then nothing came of it either.”
At Atletico Madrid, he has made 10 appearances so far in the league and Champions League. On Wednesday, he will face an Italian side again in Europe’s top club competition. The Colchoneros will face Inter.
Serie A continues to follow him, and he had this to say about the Scudetto race: “Roma under Gasperini are on an incredible run, but it’s difficult to make predictions. Milan, not having the cup, will be stuck there, like we were last season. And then Napoli or Inter.”
Finally, regarding his move to Spain, he concluded: “Never in my life would I have imagined wearing such an important jersey. I’m happy here even if I don’t play much, but I’m very ambitious. I work hard and go my own way; when you have opportunities, you have to be ready. La Liga is a competitive league, we want to be among the teams that will compete, especially because it will be a close fight.”
