Agustín Giay’s rise at Palmeiras continues, and with the 2026 World Cup only months away the right-back is on Argentina’s radar and aiming to stay in future squads.

He is expected to start on Sunday, 5 April, against Bahia in the Brasileiro at Arena Fonte Nova, Salvador, kick-off 19h30 Brasília time. According to Nosso Palestra, the defender is set to continue his run in the side.

The full-back recently earned his first senior Argentina call, with Lionel Scaloni summoning him to replace the injured Gonzalo Montiel. During the FIFA window he featured in a friendly against Zambia and shared the squad with club-mate Flaco López.

His form has been strong for Palmeiras, highlighted by a standout display in the win over São Paulo at Morumbi before the international break, then another good performance against Grêmio. Since joining in 2024 he has made 74 appearances and is in his best spell as a starter, with four consecutive starts.

After contesting the right-back slot with Khellven, Giay has consolidated his place in Abel Ferreira’s plans. A San Lorenzo graduate, he captained Argentina at the Under-20 World Cup and won the L’Alcúdia Tournament in 2022.
