FC Porto have started direct talks with Milan for Mexico international striker Santiago Gimenez, claim reports, with an asking price of at least €20m set.
The centre-forward is not part of coach Ruben Amorim’s plans for this term, and barely featured last season due to a serious ankle injury that required surgery.

It is due to that problem and his participation in the World Cup with Mexico that he is still in Italy, left behind for the pre-season tour of Australia.

According to MilanNews, the first direct contact was held today between Milan and Porto to discuss terms of any potential deal.
Coach Francesco Farioli is an admirer of the Gimenez seen at Feyenoord before his €30.2m move to San Siro in February 2025.
The plan would be for Porto to get him on loan with an option to buy at the end of the season.
In order to avoid making a net loss on this transfer, Milan would need to pocket a minimum of €20m with the sale.
Another alternative would be loaning him to fellow Serie A side Lazio, but that would be very difficult to get everyone agreed on in the circumstances.
