Giovanni Reyna’s Borussia Mönchengladbach future is uncertain after an underwhelming first season at the club, which saw the United States international make 20 appearances with a goal and an assist to his name.
Speaking to Sport Bild, Reyna himself admitted that his first season with Die Fohlen didn't live up to his own expectations.
“I wasn’t entirely happy with my situation and my playing time. But in the last few games I was on the up. We’ll see what I can show next season; right now my focus is on the World Cup,” he said.
As reported by Sport Bild, Reyna is not currently expected to play a key role for the Bundesliga outfit in the 2026/27 season either.
The report even suggests that Gladbach would be willing to sell the 23-year-old for a bargain fee below the €4 million they paid to sign him from Borussia Dortmund last summer – unless he makes a strong impression at the World Cup.
Reyna was only named on the bench for the United States’ 4-1 opening win over Paraguay, but did come on to score an impressive goal after coming on in the second half.
Despite this, he's also expected to start on the bench for the USMNT’s second World Cup match against Australia on Friday.
