Lille beat Angers 1-0 at Stade Raymond Kopa to end a six-match Ligue 1 winless run.

In the second minute of first half stoppage time, Olivier Giroud converted from the spot after Tiago Santos was fouled by Jordan Lefort.

Earlier, Herve Koffi twice kept Angers level, tipping over Aïssa Mandi's close-range effort before the break and then gathering Nathan Ngoy's header after the restart.

After the interval, Lille pushed for a second. Koffi parried a Giroud header from a Calvin Verdonk cross, and late on Santos rattled the bar from Nabil Bentaleb's delivery.

A lengthy stoppage for Berke Ozer's treatment broke up the rhythm in the second half.

Lille registered 14 attempts and won seven corners. Angers mustered five attempts and a single corner.

Lille stay fifth on 37 points and visit Red Star Belgrade in the Europa League next. Angers are 12th on 29 points and visit Monaco next.
