The personnel situation at FC Bayern is easing slightly ahead of the Champions League clash against Real Madrid – but one key position remains vacant
In the run-up to the quarter-final second leg against Real Madrid, FC Bayern are focusing on the offensive – or more precisely, on the position behind Harry Kane, where coach Vincent Kompany is facing a tricky decision
However, there is one piece of positive news: Serge Gnabry is back in team training. The 30-year-old had missed the 5-0 win against FC St. Pauli due to knee problems. According to BILD , the attacking player completed parts of the session with the team again on Monday
After the Bundesliga match, sporting director Max Eberl explained: „We have decided to take care of him at home and he will be fit for Wednesday.“ Nevertheless, it remains to be seen whether Gnabry is actually an option for the starting eleven
The international trained individually with a bandage on Sunday and it will only become clear in the short term how resilient his knee really is – possibly only after the final training session on Tuesday
One thing is clear: if Gnabry is unable to play from the start, the ten-man position will become a problem for Bayern
Shooting star Lennart Karl is still out with a torn muscle fibre and is expected to miss around two more weeks
The situation is also tricky for Jamal Musiala. Following his injury, it is unclear whether he is physically ready for two intensive matches within a few days. With a view to the upcoming World Cup, no unnecessary risks should be taken – but he could still be needed in an emergency

In addition to Gnabry and Musiala, Kompany has other options at his disposal: Raphael Guerreiro and Tom Bischof could take on the role in attacking midfield
Alternatively, a tactical adjustment is also conceivable, with the Bayern coach opting for a one-two with Nicolas Jackson and Kane, with the Englishman dropping back into midfield more often
After all, with the exception of Lennart Karl and Sven Ulreich, all the professionals were on the pitch in training on Monday, meaning the final decision on the line-up will probably not be made until shortly before kick-off.
