A source inside Al Ahly revealed to Erem News that El Khatib's tasked sporting director Mohamed Youssef to open talks with Portuguese coach Jose Gomez, formerly of Zamalek.

Gomez previously led Zamalek to Confederation cup glory and the African Super cup defeating Al Ahly in the process.

Youssef's expected to contact Gomez in the coming hours to gauge his interest in taking over Al Ahly while the club plans to formally thank Ribeiro for his services should change be confirmed.
