When asked if heading is his best skill, he replied with a smile, “You could say yes. I always try to be in the box, and it doesn’t matter if I score with my head, my knee, or anything else.”

Sheer delight

Gonzalo’s goal brought him pure happiness. “I’ll never forget the feeling I had when the ball went in.

“Scoring another goal wearing this shirt is beyond exciting. I’m really happy,” he added, showing his love for the club and his hunger for success.

He also responded to manager Xabi Alonso’s praise, comparing him to Real Madrid legend Raul Gonzalez.

“It’s more than a compliment to hear that. It means a lot. I was lucky to spend two years with Raul, and he taught me so much. I’m grateful for everything he did for me,” Gonzalo shared.

Captain Valverde praises team effort

Real Madrid captain Federico Valverde also spoke after the match, expressing pride in his team’s performance.

He was named the best player of the match thanks to his hard work and leadership on the pitch.

“It was a huge effort against a tough opponent. We created many chances, and it shows the work we’re putting into both attack and defence. There’s still a lot to improve, but this is a big step forward,” he said.

Valverde had high praise for Gonzalo Garcia, saying, “He deserves this moment. He’s worked hard and come up through our youth academy, always fighting in Castilla.

“Now he’s getting his chance and making the most of it with humility and pride for what he represents.”

On his role as captain, Valverde shared how much he enjoys leading the team. “I try to bring out the best in everyone. My teammates make me feel comfortable as captain, which makes it easier to guide them.

“They always want what’s best for the team, and it’s an honour to wear the armband,” he concluded.
