“Good on you, man!” – Alan Shearer backs Chelsea player after controversial incident | OneFootball

Former Premier League striker Alan Shearer has backed a Chelsea player after he was involved in a controversial incident at the weekend.

The new comes after Chelsea beat Premier League winners Liverpool 3-1 at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon in what was a fantastic overall performance by The Blues.

Cole Palmer was back in fine form for Chelsea and is one of the reasons that they put in such a good performance, with the stats proving this as well.

Palmer was also involved in Chelsea’s first goal of the game in the opening minutes, as well as some good work by Romeo Lavia and Pedro Neto to setup Enzo Fernandez to provide a lovely finish to get things going.

After the game, Palmer was being interviewed by Sky Sports and he swore with his reply, which some would find a little controversial. Sky had to apologise, as did Palmer, for the swear word made live on air.

But really, Palmer was just airing his annoyance at the criticism and stick he had been getting on social media off the back of his poor form of late.

Shearer backs Palmer

Former Newcastle and Blackburn striker Alan Shearer was speaking about the interview this week, and he fully backs Palmer for what he said.

In words picked up by SPTC today, Shearer said:

“I thought his interview was brilliant. I really thought, ‘Yeah, good on you, man’, because social media’s a really tough place, a hard place.”

I have to agree with this as well, this is what we all love about Palmer; he’s so laid back and just says what is in his head. He carries himself well.
