Goretzka ‘to reject’ Atlético move amid hope of free summer exit

According to Sky, Leon Goretzka is now expected to reject Atlético Madrid’s offer after fresh talks on Thursday, instead aiming to leave Bayern Munich on a free transfer in the summer.

It marks a change from earlier expectations of a late-window departure. The Germany international is instead likely to wait until his contract expires at the end of the season.

AC Milan are believed to be among the clubs that would compete with Atlético for his signature if he becomes available on a free. Atlético had pushed to sign him this month.

Goretzka turns 31 next week.

He was an unused substitute in Bayern’s Champions League win over PSV on Wednesday, only the third time this season.
