The curtain will come down on the 2025/26 season for the Celtic FC Women’s team this Sunday when they take on Rangers in the Scottish Cup Final at Hampden.

It gives the Hoops a chance to lift some silverware after what has been a tough and challenging campaign, but to be successful they will have to do something they haven’t managed so far this season, and that’s beat Rangers.

In the previous five meetings, Celtic have drawn one game and lost the other four, but manager Grant Scott is confident that, if his side play to the best of their ability at the National Stadium, then it will be green and white ribbons tied on the trophy come the end of the game.

Speaking ahead of Sunday’s game, the Celtic manager said: “We’re looking forward to it. We’re privileged to be in the position that we are to be in this game.

“I think you've got to turn up, you've got to perform, manage the natural nerves that will come and use them to your advantage if you can.

"But ultimately, you've got to perform. Nobody will remember the runner-up, so we've got to try and win the game.

“It can go either way, to be honest, and because there has to be an outcome it can add a different slant to it.

“Both teams will be here to win and that adds its own extra dynamic bit of energy and it ultimately is the Scottish Cup final.”

The Hoops signed off their league campaign last weekend with a 1-1 draw with Partick Thistle, while Rangers suffered a shock 6-0 defeat against Glasgow City on a day when they knew a win could have potentially given them the title.

But regardless of those results, and that heavy defeat in particular, Grant Scott knows Rangers will be very tough opponents this weekend.

“They're a very organised, very disciplined, hard-working team wh0 have natural threats in attack,” he said.

“We can't predict their team, but I think the structure they've played in, they've been consistent with, and it's worked well for them.

“But we can only control ourselves, so we'll just prepare what we're going to do and worry less about what's happened to them.

“We're in the game to win and every time we have a reverse result or an imperfect performance, it hurts.

“I don't want to use the word salvage something because it's not been all bad, but it certainly would give us a real highlight and something to use as our motivation to come back even stronger next year.

“These opportunities don't come around every season. Some of us have had multiple opportunities at it but some players don't even get to come here and play in the Scottish Cup final. So don't have any regrets when you come off the pitch. Give it everything.”
