Gravina ‘cannot imagine Euro 2032’ without Milan stadium but Rome may have two venues | OneFootball

FIGC President Gabriele Gravina hopes that ‘political authorities’ find the ‘best solution’ for Milan and Inter’s new stadium, as the city of Milan risks not being among the Euro 2032 host cities, while Rome may have two venues.

FIGC President Gravina hopes Milan will be among the host cities of Euro 2032, but this means a new stadium must be built in the city, as the Stadio Meazza has not met the UEFA requirements.

“The Meazza does not meet the requirements set by UEFA to host the [2032] Euros. I hope that the political authorities, in agreement with Inter and Milan, will be able to find the best solution for Milan,” Gravina told Gazzetta.

Milan and Inter have made an offer to buy the San Siro area. Their proposal will be discussed at the City Council today, with the final vote expected on Monday.

San Siro not among Euro 2032 venues

The Milanese clubs have already reached an agreement with two architectural firms to build a new stadium near the Stadio Meazza, which will be almost entirely demolished.

“The positive momentum generated by the meetings we have held with the 13 entities that have expressed interest in even shaping a scenario in which Rome could compete with two venues,” Gravina continued.

“I cannot imagine Euro 2032 without Italy’s most international city, the one most open to Europe.”

Roma are also working to build a new stadium so, according to Gazzetta, the capital could have two venues at Euro 2032: the Stadio Olimpico and the new stadium projected by the Giallorossi.

Euro 2032: Two stadiums in Rome?

“The appointment of a Special Commissioner, with the mayors of the municipalities involved acting as deputy commissioners, seems increasingly urgent and functional for the development of sports facilities in our country,” Gravina concluded.

Gazzetta reports that Italy must pick the five stadiums hosting Euro 2032 by July 31, 2026.

The list can also include stadiums that are not being built yet, but for which there’s already an approved and financed project, with construction set to begin by March 2027.

The cities interested in hosting Euro 2032, who have already held talks with Gravina are: Bari (San Nicola), Bologna (Dall’Ara), Cagliari (Sant’Elia), Firenze (Franchi), Genova (Marassi), Milano (new Inter-Milan stadium), Napoli (Maradona or new Napoli stadium), Palermo (Barbera), Roma (Olimpico/new Roma stadium), Salerno (Arechi), Torino (Allianz Stadium) and Verona (Bentegodi).
