Celtic FC Foundation’s annual Golf Day returned last Friday as Renfrew Golf Club played host to the event for an 11th time. A magnificent net total in the region of £15,000 was raised, with the main beneficiary being our Paradise Pit Stop project.

The event was sponsored once again by GMG Contractors Ltd - an award-winning, multi-disciplinary provider in the construction industry - and we were delighted to welcome a GMG team on the day, who played alongside Celtic legend and Club Ambassador, Tom Boyd.

We were also thrilled to be joined by former Celts, Stephen McManus, Aiden McGeady and Derek Riordan.

The day kicked off with breakfast rolls before the obligatory group photo at the 10th hole, followed by the 10am tee-off time.

After the golf, guests enjoyed a fantastic lunch before a Q&A with our former Celts, , sharing stories from their time with the club.

The scores were then tallied and this year’s winners were announced. Congratulations to ‘Tynemouth’s Best Team’ – Kevin Westphal, Alan Moses, Mark Plant and Stephen Clark – who, along with the trophy, will also enjoy a fourball at Turnberry’s Robert the Bruce course, kindly donated by Pat Dunese.

We then had a wonderful Auction and Prize Draw where some fantastic prizes were on offer.

Celtic FC Foundation would like to thank everyone who participated in the Golf Day, including GMG Contractors, our former Celts, everyone who contributed on the day and all of those who kindly donated prizes or items for our Auction, Prize Draw and Goody Bags.

Proceeds raised through the Golf Day will support our Paradise Pit Stop project, which sees us open our doors at Celtic Park to provide a free, warm meal and a variety of hot and cold drinks, in a safe and nonjudgmental environment for individuals and families in need.

Since its inception, Paradise Pit Stop has been delivered every Monday and Thursday evening from 5pm - 7pm and, in November 2023, we expanded the initiative by introducing Paradise Pit Stop Lunch Breaks, designed to further address the ongoing cost-of-living crisis. This has seen us also make the stadium available to those in need of our support on a Wednesday and Friday afternoon, from 12noon – 2pm, allowing us to offer vital help four days a week.

And in 2025, following the Foundation’s £100K investment, we were delighted to announce Paradise Pit Stop In The Community, with delivery partners joining us to ensure a wider geographical reach and further enhance food provision in local communities across Scotland and Ireland.

The project also connects participants to broader support networks and addresses critical issues in our local communities, such as mental health, housing and addiction.

To date, Paradise Pit Stop has supported close to 40,000 individuals and provided almost 80,000 hot meals and drinks.

Through your support, you are assisting us in our ongoing commitment to addressing food insecurity, loneliness and isolation, through projects such as Paradise Pit Stop.

Thank you.
