Grêmio have agreed to terminate Jemerson’s contract, according to Globo.com. The centre-back had already been told not to report with the squad last Friday. He was due to resume training only on the 12th.

There had been no progress in recent weeks on a loan move. The 33-year-old’s deal ran until the end of 2026, and the club is expected to formalise the decision shortly. Left-back Lucas Esteves also failed to report and is of interest to Coritiba.

Jemerson joined Grêmio in May 2024 after a spell at Atlético-MG. He made 44 appearances for the Tricolor, scoring twice. He started last season under Gustavo Quinteros, then lost his place under Mano Menezes.

His last outing came in the Recopa Gaúcha win over São José at the Arena on the eighth of July. Since then, he alternated between the bench and being left out of matchday squads.

Grêmio have already moved more than 10 players for this year. Alysson has been sold to Aston Villa, of England, while Enzo and Alex Santana left at the end of their contracts. Camilo, Cristian Olivera and João Lucas were loaned to Chapecoense, Bahia and Remo, and Arezo, Ronald and Adriel moved to Peñarol, Fortaleza and AVS of Portugal.
