Grêmio have confirmed the contract terminations of Felipe Carballo and Jemerson, alongside Tiago Volpi. According to Globo.com, the club made the announcement on Tuesday.

Carballo, a 29-year-old Uruguayan midfielder, failed to report for pre-season and was fined. His troubled stint in Porto Alegre now ends after around three years.

He joined from Nacional in December 2022 on a deal running to December 2026. A bright start included a goal in a Gre-Nal during the Gauchão group phase in March 2023.

He battled pubic pain in his first year and suffered a right-knee ligament problem. After pubis surgery in December, he only returned in April 2024 and struggled to rediscover form.

After 15 outings he was loaned to New York Red Bulls for a year, playing 26 games as the MLS club declined a purchase option. He returned, trained for about a month in Porto Alegre, then joined Portland Timbers on loan. In his second match he ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament and remains in recovery.

Carballo departs with 55 appearances for Grêmio, two goals and one assist. Jemerson agreed his termination at the start of January, having signed in May 2024 and played 44 games with two goals.
