Grêmio’s new leadership is reshaping the squad for Luis Castro, targeting few signings seen as potential undisputed starters for 2026.
Despite a drive to trim squad and wage bill, SBT reports that four negotiations are under way to strengthen the team. Two targets already familiar to supporters are Savarino and Tetê.
Savarino could be part of a mechanism to offset a debt Botafogo owe to Grêmio from recent transfers. For Tetê, the club are pursuing a loan with an obligation to buy from Panathinaikos of Greece.
The other two names have not leaked. There are no official talks for goalkeeper Bento, though he is well regarded and, with limited opportunities at Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia, could be an option. The immediate focus is extending Gabriel Grando and arranging a departure for Tiago Volpi.
The club also prioritises a holding midfielder, a centre-back and a right-back. The need could grow if first-team players are sold during this transfer window.
