Grêmio announced on Tuesday the signing of Argentine midfielder Leonel Pérez from Huracán, on a contract running to 2029. The 21-year-old arrived in Porto Alegre on Saturday for medicals, then watched from the Arena stands as the side reached the Gauchão semi-finals that night.
According to Globo.com, the fee is about 2.5 million dollars, roughly R$ 13.1 million, for 50 percent of his economic rights. Grêmio regard him as a young prospect.
Right-footed and 1.86 metres tall, Pérez typically operates as the deepest midfielder. He made his professional debut in 2025 and played 38 times for academy club Huracán, scoring once.
He has yet to feature this season. Named for the opening round of the Torneo Apertura, he stayed on the bench in the 1-1 draw at Banfield, then was unavailable for matches against Independiente Rivadávia and Atlético Tucumán under coach Diego Martínez.
Pérez is Grêmio’s sixth addition of the campaign. Last week the Tricolor announced fellow Argentine midfielder Juan Nardoni, joining left-back Caio Paulista, forwards Tetê and Enamorado, and goalkeeper Weverton.
