Real Betis are growing optimistic that they can keep hold of Manchester United winger Antony beyond this summer, as per reports.
United are prepared for a major overhaul of Ruben Amorim’s squad, having made Antony, Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, and Jadon Sancho available for sale.
Antony enjoyed a prolific loan stint at Betis and has accordingly attracted plenty of interest this summer. However, the Red Devils are yet to make significant progress in their attempts to offload their big-money flop.
Betis remain his most serious suitors and are trying to find a breakthrough in negotiations with United.
According to ABC Sevilla, Betis have grown optimistic regarding the possibility of keeping Antony in Seville for another season after their meeting with United this week.
Both parties acknowledge that it may take a few weeks to reach a final agreement.
Club CEO Ramón Alarcón and sporting director Manu Fajardo flew to England to hold talks with United after “settling accounts” with the Brazilian’s camp. Antony has declared his intention to extend his stay in Spain.
The La Liga outfit want to sign Antony on another loan deal but this time with an obligation to buy the right winger in 2026. Their other proposal is to sign him now by purchasing a percentage of his rights.
It is added that “the idea of shared ownership is something Betis has always proposed, given that Antony is a player who cost United 100 million three years ago and who now, although his value is much lower, is still beyond the reach of the Betis coffers.”
Recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen are both interested in signing the 25-year-old.
However, Antony’s “strong commitment” is considered crucial for the Spanish side to win the transfer race.
Betis are willing to make Antony the joint highest-paid player at Estadio Benito Villamarín alongside Isco. The Brazil international’s 200,000-a-week contract at United is up in 2027.
