Pep Guardiola has confirmed that Rodri and Erling Haaland are both back in training - but urged caution on the return to action of our Ballon d'Or winner.

Midfield powerhouse Rodri hasn’t played since he sustained a knee injury in September 2024’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal.

The Euro 2024 winner subsequently underwent surgery in Madrid before setting out on his lengthy rehabilitation.

The 28-year-old had been a popular presence on the CFA sidelines watching training as well at the Etihad on matchdays with Guardiola saying in his last press conference that he loved seeing the central warrior back amongst the group.

Haaland, meanwhile, suffered an ankle injury in the 2-1 FA Cup quarter-final win over Bournemouth in March.

He's missed four Premier League victories and a draw as well as a Wembley triumph over Nottingham Forest which has put us in the FA Cup final.

Both have now returned to the grass with Guardiola saying Haaland is ‘getting better’ and Rodri ‘feels good’.

The manager doesn't think Haaland will be involved against Wolves on Friday while he insists he will seek counsel from club doctors before including Rodri in his on-field plans.

“We are really pleased Erling is back and Rodri is back in the training sessions,” the manager told the media in his press conference.

“The moment the physio and doctor say that Rodri can start to play minutes and after that he will start to play minutes. But the doctors have to tell me.

“It was a difficult injury. It was seven months to eleven months more or less the doctors said.

“He feels really good, every day he’s making sessions and sessions but we have to make the step to avoid making a step backwards and being injured again.

“That’s why you need to be careful. Important is one training session and then another one and every time he feels better and better.

“When the doctor says Rodri is stable and he can play, after that he is going to come back.”
