According to Globo.com, 19-year-old forward Gui Negão is enduring an unstable spell at Corinthians despite a Brazil under-20 call-up later this month. He has struggled to convince the staff during Yuri Alberto’s injury lay-off since 15 February, and the no 9 could return for Thursday’s meeting with Chapecoense.
Inside the club, the feeling is that Gui Negão has lost confidence and his day-to-day levels have dipped. With one goal in 11 matches this season, he has slipped behind Pedro Raul, who has played more across the last five games. Even so, he recently started against Portuguesa and Coritiba.
The board believe the recent under-20 summons could increase his market value. A sale in the next transfer window to ease finances and avoid losing another academy standout such as André or Breno Bidon is not being ruled out.
A product of Parque São Jorge, Gui Negão has 35 senior appearances and six goals for Corinthians. His contract runs until 30 June 2030.
At Dorival Júnior’s request, Corinthians are working behind the scenes to reinforce the attack. In recent days the club sounded out Botafogo striker Arthur Cabral, though talks have not advanced.
One forward could yet depart. Vitória and Remo have approached Corinthians over Pedro Raul, but the club intend to release him only if his full salary is covered.
