The Guipuzkoan Football Federation has been allocated 350 tickets for the Copa del Rey final between Real Sociedad and Atlético Madrid at La Cartuja on 18 April. According to Diario Vasco, the Basque federation distributed 800 seats from the RFEF late on Thursday.
After hours of talks on Thursday, the Basque body and the three territorials, Guipuzcoana, Vizcaína and Alavesa, reached an agreement past midnight.
Guipuzcoana, which has a finalist in Sevilla in Real Sociedad, will keep 350 for clubs, staff, referees, volunteers and other federation stakeholders. The Basque federation will receive the same number. Vizcaína and Alavesa will get only 50 each.
The split contrasts with two years ago, when Athletic faced Mallorca and the Basque and Vizcaína bodies had 750 each, while Guipuzcoana and Alavesa received 250 apiece. The overall allocation from the RFEF has dropped by 1,200 in that time.
Elsewhere, the Galician federation is set to receive 350 tickets for this final, while the Canary federations, two territorials, will have 100 each to share among clubs.
Anyone from these federations seeking a ticket must pay the RFEF price. Despite Thursday’s accord, bigger issues remain, including funding and the marginalisation alleged by the territorials, as well as other day-to-day concerns for Basque clubs.
