OM announced on Wednesday evening that Habib Beye is their new head coach, with his first match against Brest in Ligue 1 on Friday at 20:45.

The appointment comes one week after Roberto De Zerbi’s departure. Beye has signed a deal running until 2027.

It marks a return for the former OM captain, who made 174 appearances for the club between 2003 and 2007. The ex-Senegal international won 45 caps and scored one goal.

Beye previously managed Red Star and Stade Rennais. He was dismissed by Rennes recently and has moved quickly to step back into management.

He arrives amid significant change at Marseille. Mehdi Benatia had announced his exit before ultimately remaining, while Pablo Longoria is expected to leave the club in the coming hours.
