Hainer announces his next contract extension with FC Bayern | OneFootball

FC Bayern is poised to make its next major personnel decision. After recent developments had strongly suggested that sporting director Max Eberl would have his contract extended, President Herbert Hainer has now also expressed his support for CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen. The record champions are apparently committed to long-term continuity in their leadership.

While Eberl’s future has been the subject of repeated public discussion in recent months, attention is now turning to Jan-Christian Dreesen as well. Like Eberl, the CEO still has a contract running through the summer of 2027.

On the sidelines of FC Bayern’s Asian tour to South Korea, Herbert Hainer made it clear that the club is extremely satisfied with Dreesen’s work.

“I am convinced that the supervisory board will make a good decision in due course,” explained the Bayern president. He then added: “The same applies, incidentally, to Mr. Dreesen, whose contract extension is pending and with whose work we are just as satisfied.”

These statements are seen as a clear signal that the supervisory board intends to continue the course set by the club’s leadership. Dreesen took over as CEO in 2023 and has since worked alongside the rest of the leadership team to guide the record champion’s sporting and financial revitalization.

Eberl, too, can hope for a contract extension

At the same time, indications are mounting that Max Eberl will also remain with FC Bayern beyond 2027. Uli Hoeneß recently even put the chances of a contract extension at “100 percent,” after having estimated them at “60 to 40” back in May.

Hainer attributed the shift in sentiment primarily to the successful transfer window. With Nathaniel Brown and Ismael Saibari, the club had signed its top targets. At the same time, the club had already generated more than 40 million euros from player sales, thereby meeting a key target set by the supervisory board.

Eberl himself was pleased by Hoeneß’s remarks. “Of course, I was very pleased to hear those words—I make no secret of that. It’s always nice to hear praise,” explained the sporting director, while also reaffirming his willingness to discuss a contract extension.

As things stand, there are strong indications that the supervisory board will address the contracts of Eberl and Dreesen as early as its next regular meeting at the end of August. The signs clearly point toward continuity.
