kicker reports that Hamburg will invest the money they receive from Ludovic Reis’ move to Club Brugge into new striker Rayan Philippe.
Although the Dutch midfielder will leave the Volksparkstadion for €7m, Hamburg will not receive the full amount due to an agreement with Reis’ former club, Barcelona, who will receive a 30% fee (€2.1m). This means Hamburg will be left with €4.9m to spend.
That money will then be used to bring striker Philippe to the club from Eintracht Braunschweig. Sky Germany reports that the fee will be between €2.5-3.5m, meaning Hamburg will have some extra money to invest.
Philippe’s arrival will be Hamburg’s third move of the summer after bringing in Nicolai Remberg from Holstein Kiel and Jordan Torunarigha from KAA Gent on a free transfer.
The French striker ended the year with 13 goals and six assists in the 2.Bundesliga and most importantly scored in extra-time of the relegation playoff against Saarbrücken, which secured Braunschweig’s second division status.
