Hannah Hampton has capped off a stunning 2025 with another prize, after winning The FIFA Best Women’s Goalkeeper Award.
Chelsea and FIFA have confirmed that Hampton has won the award, despite the ceremony for the FIFA awards not taking place until 5pm GMT.
FIFA president Gianni Infantino also confirmed the news on his Instagram page, congratulating the Chelsea goalkeeper for her latest award.
In the video posted by Infantino, Hannah Hampton is seen receiving the The FIFA Best Women’s Goalkeeper Award.
Hampton started every game Women’s Super League game for Chelsea last season as they completed a domestic treble.
Her heroics at Euro 2025 also helped England successfully defend their European Championship trophy in a penalty shootout win over Spain.
In the video posted by Infantino, Hampton said: “Thank you very much to everyone who voted. It is greatly appreciated and it really means a lot.
“To Sarina (Wiegman), to Sonia (Bompastor) for the belief in me this year. Both at club level and country we’ve achieved so much and there’s still so much set out for us to go and get.
“And to the fans, both club and country again, your support doesn’t go unnoticed and we hear you cheering every single game loud and proud and it helps push us on to go and get the win for you guys.”
Hampton has had a year to remember, not just for her trophies with Chelsea and England, but also her individual prizes.
She won the WSL Golden Glove award after keeping 13 clean sheets for Chelsea during the 2024-25 campaign.
The awards have then stacked up since England won the European Championship, where Hampton was named in the Team of the Tournament.
Hampton received the Yachine Trophy at the Ballon d’Or awards, where she also placed tenth in the overall rankings.
She was named the BBC’s Best Goalkeeper of the Year and was also named in the FIFPRO XI.
Hampton is an outsider to win the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award, after she was named on the shortlist alongside England teammate Chloe Kelly.
Despite her on-field success, there has also been some off-field drama involving former England teammate Mary Earps.
Earps in her autobiography criticised Hampton’s behaviour in the past and the decision for Sarina Wiegman to recall the Chelsea goalkeeper into the England squad.
The PSG goalkeeper described an ‘uncomfortable environment’ created by Hannah Hampton which led to her retiring from international football earlier this year.
Eight Women’s Super League players – four from Chelsea and four from Arsenal – are up for the main women’s prize at The Best FIFA Football Awards ceremony.
Hampton’s Chelsea teammates Sandy Baltimore, Lucy Bronze, Nathalie Bjorn and Lauren James are all on the shortlist.
The favourite to win the award is Aitana Bonmati, who her third Ballon d’Or this year.
