Barcelona’s 2-0 victory over Racing Santander in the Copa del Rey round of 16 was far from straightforward, but it once again showed the growing authority of Hansi Flick’s side.
Goals from Ferran Torres and Lamine Yamal sealed qualification for the quarter-finals and confirmed Barça’s clear superiority over the course of the match, even on a demanding night at El Sardinero.
Beyond qualifying in the Copa del Rey, the result carried far greater symbolic value.
This is because, with the win in Santander, Barcelona have now recorded 11 consecutive victories in all competitions.
That run remains Flick’s best winning streak since taking charge and shows just how quickly he has imposed consistency, belief, and control on the team.
Reaching 11 straight wins places Flick in elite company at Barcelona, as only two managers in the club’s history have previously achieved the same sequence of victories.
The first was Pep Guardiola, whose 2009 side combined dominance with style and famously ended the season with a historic treble.

The second was Luis Enrique, who repeated the feat in 2015, leading Barça to Champions League glory with a devastating attacking trio.
The parallel is impossible to ignore, as both Guardiola and Luis Enrique hit the 11-win mark during seasons that ended with UEFA Champions League triumphs.
Flick reaching the same milestone understandably fuels optimism among fans, even if the German coach himself remains focused on short-term objectives rather than historical comparisons.
Meanwhile, the longest winning streak in Barcelona’s modern history still belongs to another iconic figure.
Under Frank Rijkaard, Barça produced an extraordinary run of 18 consecutive victories during the 2005–2006 season.
That sequence, stretching from October to January, laid the foundation for European success and remains the benchmark for excellence at the club.
